Summary
Oversees, coordinates, develops, and manages the day-to-day clinical activities for oncology research trials in accordance with the research parameters established by the Principal Investigator (PI). The Research Coordinator promotes good clinical practices in the conduct of investigations by possessing an in-depth knowledge of federal regulations and guidance documents for the conduct of clinical trials and human subject protection. The Research Coordinator ensures compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements by collecting, recording, and maintaining data and source documentation. The RN Research Nurse collaborates with physicians and other providers to perform ongoing assessments for changes in condition and adverse events, accurate and timely documentation / data entry, and participates in education and training of staff and patients. The RN coordinator will work closely with PIs, department members, study sponsors, and the institution to support compliance, financial, personnel, and other aspects of ongoing clinical studies.
Essential Functions
- Provides leadership, direction, and oversight in developing policies and procedures supporting organizational goals related to research.
- Facilitates and coordinates daily clinical activities; plays a critical role in study conduct.
- Acts as liaison between PIs, departments, research subjects, sponsors, regulatory bodies, vendors, and suppliers.
- Provides guidance on interpretation of legislation, ensures compliance, and submits regulatory reports.
- Conducts interviews, schedules appointments, administers surveys, collects and aggregates data, and acts as patient liaison.
- Monitors industry trends for organizational impact.
- Serves as a research team member and assists in developing research programs and grants.
- Maintains documentation including subject logs, reports, protocols, and contracts.
- Develops contingency plans and responds to unforeseen circumstances.
- Adheres to safety, confidentiality, policies, and standards.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a qualified, accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's preferred.At least three years of clinical research experience, preferably in acute care.Current RN licensure in Arizona and CPR certification.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of benefits theory, practices, and tools, ideally within healthcare.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with spreadsheets and data analysis.Knowledge of nursing care, assessments, regulations, and policies related to patient research.Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.Ability to interpret instructions, analyze data, and identify variances.J-18808-Ljbffr
