Overview

Phillips Law Offices is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Law Clerk / Intake Specialist. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced legal environment while working with some of Chicago's most experienced trial attorneys. The Law Clerk / Intake Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team and contributing to the success of our clients' cases. Our firm focuses on medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases.

Responsibilities

Legal Research : Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal sources to support attorneys in case preparation and development.
Intake Calls : Efficiently and accurately handle case intake by gathering necessary information from prospective clients and documenting relevant details.
Drafting Legal Documents : Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including motions briefs, motions, and discovery requests, under the guidance of attorneys.
Case Management : Assist in organizing and managing case files, including maintaining documents in an orderly fashion and preparing trial binders
Client Communication : Interact with clients to gather necessary information, update them on case progress, and respond to their inquiries professionally and promptly.
Trial Support : Provide support during trial preparation and proceedings, such as witness coordination, exhibit preparation, and attending court hearings as required.
Administrative Tasks : Perform various administrative duties, including scheduling appointments and managing calendars.

Qualifications

Education : Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field. High GPA is required, top 20% of the class.

Research Skills : Proficient in conducting legal research using both online and print resources, with a strong understanding of legal research methodologies and techniques.

Writing Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents and correspondence.

Detail-oriented : Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.

Analytical Thinking : Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues, identify key points, and provide insightful recommendations.

Professionalism : Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exhibit a professional demeanor, and establish positive working relationships with attorneys, staff, and clients.

Technology Proficiency : Proficient in using legal research databases, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software applications.

Team Player : Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
