General Accountant

We are seeking a General Accountant for our Rye Brook, NY office location in Westchester County. This in-office role is responsible for general ledger accounting, tax compliance and analytic support for company operations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and year-end work paper packages from posted journal entries and general ledger analysis


• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations


• Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local tax requirement and manage tax filing process


• Oversee the internal and external auditing process


• Maintain business and state licensing requirements


• Ensure that all insurance renewals are completed accurately and in accordance with annual timelines


• Conduct financial statement analysis and create reporting for leadership


• PILOST tracking


• Manage the corporate credit card process and assist with Concur expense approval process


• Assist with the subcontractor prequalification process as needed


• Partner with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed to ensure compliance


• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a similar field of study


• A minimum of eight years of professional experience in public or private accounting


• Advanced Excel knowledge required. Must perform V-lookups and create pivot tables on a regular basis


• Prior experience at a general contracting company or subcontractor is strongly preferred.


• Knowledge of construction accounting processes, forms, and systems is preferred (Procore, Sage, etc.)


• Ability to prioritize and manage time well under tight deadlines


• Team player with an ability to build relationships across the organization


• Excellent organization and communications skills
