POSITION SUMMARY :

The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation and testing of the electrical wiring and equipment on a solar power plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Journeyman Electrician in the assembly, installation and test, electrical wiring and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
• Pull and terminate conductors to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Assist in the inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and compliance with code.
• Assist in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Install ground leads and connect power cabling.
• Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and specifications.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements :

Education and Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience as an electrical apprentice or helper in commercial construction.

Familiarity with NEC knowledge.

Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safety requirements.

Solar experience preferred but not required

Other Competencies and Requirements

Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds

Ability to travel to other cities and states. Out-of-state travel will be required for the short- and long-term assignments.

Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds and in confined spaces to install or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work can be physically demanding. It involves frequently working in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather and working conditions. Workers may be subjected to extreme weather conditions and terrain, as well as physical circumstances involving extensive climbing, lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.

It requires weekday and possibly weekend work on assigned sites and work supporting those assigned sites. Assigned sites may also require travel, overnight or extended stays. Sites typically are in the Southwestern United States. Note : THIS IS A SITE SAFETY POSITION
