Summary / Objective
The Staff Accountant II plays a key role in supporting daily and monthly accounting operations, with a focus on financial analysis, reconciliations, and accurate reporting. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will assist with month-end close, maintain the general ledger, and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
Essential Functions
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities with minimal supervision.
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accurate and timely postings.
Perform variance analysis on key accounts and provide clear, data-driven explanations to management.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
Review and ensure the accuracy of general ledger entries and financial transactions.
Collaborate with department leaders to ensure proper expense coding and budget tracking.
Help identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
Assist in implementing new accounting systems, policies, or procedures as the company grows.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards (GAAP), and company policies.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff if needed.

Work Environment
This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
This position requires frequent sitting, walking, standing, reading, seeing, speaking, hearing, listening, organizing, interpreting data and information, operating office equipment, typing using a computer keyboard and mouse, viewing a computer screen monitor, and use of a telephone. Some positions may require lifting, occasional bending or kneeling. The working environment consists of an indoor and climate-controlled setting the majority of the time. The employee may regularly lift and / or move objects up to 25 pounds.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
Minimum of 35 years of progressive accounting experience , preferably in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industries
Solid understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP
Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Advanced Excel proficiency
QuickBooks or ERP experience (preferred)
