Cabling Journeyman - So Cal
AMS.NET is currently seeking four (4) experienced Lead Installers to join our Cabling Department in the Anaheim office. The Lead Installer is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining voice, security and / or data cabling required for installation of AMS.NET projects. Prior Lead installer experience of 5 plus crews is a plus.
The Lead Installer will report to the Cabling Operations Manager. Compensation will be commensurate with the State Prevailing Wage and State Salary Guidelines. AMS.NET covers all travel expenses.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Serves as a coach to installers and apprentices to share knowledge and skills as appropriate
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with both internal and external customers to ensure their needs are met
- Prepares weekly safety report, daily project update reports and personnel documents as necessary (timecards, expense reports, vacation requests, etc.)
- Follows all AMS.NET safety policies and procedures as written
- Manages cabling projects so they will be completed on time and on budget
- Coordinates with Cabling Operations Manager and Project Managers to ensure both know the status of the project and are aware of any unique
- circumstances or issues with the installation
- Communicates with Project Managers to ensure they are informed on status of projects
Skills / Qualifications :
Ability to complete reports correctlyExcellent problem-solving skillsProfessional customer service skills including use of the telephone in a courteous mannerKnowledge of low voltage wiringAbility to understand technical informationUnderstanding of network standards and maintenanceAbility to troubleshoot technical networksAbility to recognize and handle hazardous materials appropriately and according to best practicesExcellent communication skills – both written and verbalGood time management and organizational skillsAttention to detailAbility to troubleshoot voice, security, or data cabling problemsRetrofit environments a plus. Prior experience working in school environments and / or within the public sector is preferredEducation and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent requiredSome college work preferred5 yrs work experience in Telcom or other technical fieldLead installer experience of 5 plus crewsCertifications :
Manufacturer certifications as appropriateRegistered Certified Distribution Designer (RCDD) preferredCalifornia State Electrical License (please include license number) required and / or equivalent work experienceAdditional Job Requirements :
