Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department, ICU, and MedSurg float role requiring a SD or compact RN license with a strong background in emergency and critical care.
Responsibilities
Position involves working in a 35-bed acute care hospital with assignments in the ED, ICU, and MedSurg unitsEmergency Department has 9 treatment spaces, ICU has 4 beds, and MedSurg has 20 bedsCare is provided to all ages with a variety of patient types including sepsis, DKA, ETOH, ARDS, MI, trauma, and strokeTypical nurse-to-patient ratios : ED 1 : 3-4, ICU 1 : 1-2, MedSurg 1 : 5, ratios may vary based on acuity and patient ageShift schedule is 12-hour variable, with every other weekend and every other holiday requiredCharting is done using the Epic EMR systemFloating between ED, ICU, and MedSurg is expectedTravelers will be utilized across all units based on departmental needsUnit support includes a hospital coordinator, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist / APPs on nightsOrientation includes 2 days of facility and unit trainingNavy blue scrubs requiredFree parking is availableUp to 7 days of time off may be approved with an extension of contract by 1 week for each week missedThe facility is known for being very traveler friendly and often offers contract renewalsNo call requirements are involvedRequirements
Active SD or compact state RN license requiredCompletion of a board-approved nursing education programMinimum of 1.5 years of recent acute care nursing experience requiredGeneral ED and critical care experience for ICU holds required, trauma experience requiredMust be comfortable working in all care areas : ED, ICU, and MedSurgCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALSNIHSS and CPI certifications preferredExperience with Epic EMR preferredCandidates must live more than 100 miles from the facilityFirst-time travelers must have at least 2 years of experiencePermanent staff must wait 1 year to return as a traveler and may be subject to an internal reference checkBenefits
