Cost Accounting Manager

The Cost Accounting Manager will oversee and execute cost accounting functions across EPC's manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role requiring significant attention to detail and deep involvement in day-to-day activities. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing day-to-day cost accounting activities. The Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate cost records, supporting financial reporting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize cost structures and drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting Operations

Manage standard costing, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and variance analysis.

Maintain and improve cost accounting policies and procedures in alignment with company goals and compliance standards.

Ensure accurate and timely recording of manufacturing costs and inventory transactions.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost accounting.

Provide actionable insights to finance and operations teams to improve financial performance.

Inventory & Cost Management

Oversee inventory accounting, including reconciliation, valuation, and analysis of excess and obsolete inventory.

Implement controls and best practices to improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste.

Assist in budgeting and forecasting for inventory-related costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to enhance cost accounting systems and reporting accuracy.

Collaborate with IT and finance teams to improve ERP integration and automation of cost accounting processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and engineering teams to understand cost drivers and support strategic initiatives.

Provide financial guidance for product development, sourcing decisions, and production planning.

Audit & Compliance

Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and company policies.

Support internal and external audits with accurate and timely documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including 5+ years in a leadership role.

Expertise in standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and cost forecasting.

Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Proven track record of driving process improvements and cost control initiatives.

Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work under tight deadlines.
