Medical Assistant Specialist

Position Overview

Join our dynamic team at Apex Skin, a fast-growing skincare facility dedicated to exceptional patient care! We are actively seeking enthusiastic candidates for the Medical Assistant Specialist role. In this position, you will balance administrative and clinical tasks, including maintaining patient records, preparing exam rooms, assisting physicians during examinations, and performing critical front-desk duties. We value problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a high level of organization with meticulous attention to detail.

This is a full-time position requiring 32 hours per week. Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the US.

Essential Functions

• Guide patients to exam rooms based on appointment times; collect brief medical history and vital signs as dictated by the chief complaint. Update medication lists and prepare exam rooms according to scheduled procedures.
• Accurately document patient care during visits to fulfill legal requirements and regulatory standards.
• Assist physicians with biopsies and other surgical procedures as required.
• Educate patients about their treatment plans, ensuring they understand their medications and responsibilities before leaving the office.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms after patient visits.
• Manage and update patient records and charts efficiently.
• Respond to medical emergencies with appropriate care and professionalism.
• Exhibit sound judgment and decision-making in adherence to practice policies (OSHA / HIPAA).
• Handle lab documents, biopsy results, and team communications within the EMR system.
• Support clinical phone inquiries alongside providers and follow up on biopsy results.
• Assist with autoclave procedures and ensure quality controls are maintained.
• Perform clerical tasks such as scheduling new and follow-up appointments, answering phones, and scanning documents into the EMR.
• Willingness to travel to other office locations as needed.

Requirements - Strong communication skills, effective teamwork, ability to multi-task, flexibility, excellent telephone etiquette, customer service skills, time management, organization, attention to detail, proficiency in scheduling, word processing, professionalism, focus on quality, and a good understanding of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications - A BA / BS in a related field, two years of experience as a medical assistant, one year in dermatology, and current certification as a Medical Assistant or working towards certification.
