Education

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Holds recognized national certification certificate, (i.e. ASPT, ASCP) Preferred

Experience / Qualifications

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist accurately and efficiently performs specimen collections and testing as defined by laboratory policy and procedure manuals.

Computer data entry and workflow monitoring.

Assesses environment to assure patient safety and determines appropriate equipment to use that meet the patient's needs.

Maintains chain of custody for forensic collections.

Maintains HRP and pending log lists.

Organizes work flow to improve efficiency.

Answers phones, faxes reports, maintains phlebotomy inventory. Maintains a clean environment.

May drive to offsite locations for specimen collections.

Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated. Ability to push / pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
