Job description

Principal ML Data Engineer

Location : Remote (UK-based)

Contract : 3 months

Start : ASAP

About the Project

Were working with a leading construction technology company to help them harness AI across their business. They have a large library of specifications contracts and bids and this project focuses on turning that data into value through rapid AI experimentation and proofs of concept.

Youll work in a fast-paced environment where progress matters more than perfection helping identify high-impact use cases for further investment.

What Youll Do

  • Lead AI-driven proofs of concept from idea to delivery
  • Build and iterate on data pipelines and ML models to enhance business processes
  • Identify and prototype AI opportunities in automation prediction and document intelligence
  • Work hands-on with large complex datasets

    • What Were Looking For :

    Solution Development

  • Experience leading AI-driven proofs of concept from ideation to deployment
  • Ability to identify and develop AI opportunities within business workflows
  • Experience embedding AI solutions that enhance existing processes rather than operate as standalone tools
  • Strong understanding of AI use cases including automation predictive analytics and document intelligence

    • Data Architecture and Engineering

  • Expertise in building scalable data pipelines to support ML model development and rapid prototyping
  • Skilled in working with both structured and unstructured data sources

    • Machine Learning

  • Experience designing training and deploying NLP models for document summarisation classification or key information extraction
  • Proficiency in developing predictive analytics
  • Understanding of model evaluation metrics and testing frameworks

    • Technical Skills

  • Strong Python programming skills and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch TensorFlow scikit-learn or Hugging Face Transformers
  • Familiarity with cloud-based ML environments such as Azure ML AWS Sagemaker or GCP Vertex AI
