Civil / Structural Engineer - Technical Lead

Overview

Mitsubishi Power Americas is seeking a qualified Civil / Structural Engineer – Technical Lead to lead civil and structural design efforts on a range of projects. The role focuses on design elements such as support structures, concrete foundations, and steel structural systems, and requires leading a sub-team of engineers and technical staff to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform, review, comment, and approve engineering design and structural analysis for steel structures and concrete foundations.
• Collect, review, interpret, and integrate design requirements from customers, suppliers, and the parent company.
• Prepare and review engineering technical requirements to support overall project proposals and bid strategy.
• Engage in technical conversations with customers on behalf of the Civil / Structural Team to address project needs and provide guidance.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain Management, Quality Controls, Construction Services, Project Management, and other Engineering Teams to prioritize and resolve issues related to Mitsubishi's scope of supply.
• Support the simplification and standardization of product designs to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
• Enhance structural design standards for turbine generator foundations, air intake filter houses, equipment enclosures, and piping supports.
• Conduct regular meetings with international engineering partners to ensure successful design implementation.
• Lead periodic reviews of the civil / structural team's execution schedule, expedite engineering activities, address critical needs, and report on technical delivery status.
• Train designated engineers in performing structural analysis, preparing calculation reports, and applying sound engineering judgment.
• Monitor and balance the workload of Civil / Structural team members and coordinate with the team manager to maintain efficiency.
• Prepare and review budgets, bids, technical requirements, and commercial requirements.
• Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets project requirements and interfaces with internal and external teams to ensure accurate design data.
• Complete projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Provide performance insights to the team manager to inform evaluations and foster continuous improvement.
• Collaborate in recruiting and onboarding qualified candidates to strengthen the Civil / Structural team's capabilities.
• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to meet evolving project and organizational needs.
