Basic Picture of an Educational Assistant
The EA is responsible to show maximum flexibility and adaptability by 'floating' to different classrooms as assigned by the administrative staff. You need to be able to deal with frequent changes, delays and unexpected events. You are required to communicate effectively with lead and assistant teachers to coordinate daily curriculum activities and classroom management techniques. The EA must be able to assist children, individually or in groups, with activities, toileting and / or diapering as well as all other health and safety components of a classroom.
Training and Continuing Education Requirements
Maintain a current CPR and 1st Aid Certification
Maintain 24 hours of continuing education a year as defined in the Employee Handbook
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and In-Service days
Seek to continuously build knowledge and skills through self-assessment and feedback from administrative reviews
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma / GED
