Job Summary

This position supports this Departmental purpose by providing phlebotomy services to adolescent / adult / geriatric / pediatric / neonate patients. Additional functions include the timely and accurate specimen receipt, accessioning, preparation and / or processing for analysis on various body fluids, tissues, and fecal material. Functions also include answering telephones, providing specimen collection information and results, filing, record keeping, supply inventory, ordering, equipment and general area maintenance. Incumbent will be assigned to any one of the outpatient laboratory locations within the Primary Care Network Clinics (PCN)for phlebotomy / venipuncture services. Additional laboratory functions may include specimen dispatch to department and / or referral laboratories, and providing courier services (utilizing University vehicles and / or by foot).

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position

• Certified Phlebotomist Technician
• Must be a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
• Must have current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR or obtain within 3 months from hire date
• Must have the skills and experience to perform adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal venipuncture and neonatal skin puncture in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.
• Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling, processing and shipping requirements.
• Knowledge of computer systems such as EMR, LIS, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work on several projects or tasks simultaneously and to exercise appropriate judgment when setting priorities.
• Ability to prioritize and complete work to meet required turnaround times and deadlines.
• Manual dexterity for pipetting and / or aliquoting specimens.
