Department Profile
The 5100 Pediatric ED Extension is a physically separate area from the main Pediatric Emergency Department. This unit cares for pediatric patients who are awaiting care placement.
Capacity : 8 beds
Patient Population : Minimal to no medical needs; many patients have behavioral health needs
Preferred Experience : Prior pediatric, psychiatric, or behavioral health experience
Care Model : Space designed for group interaction and therapeutic engagement
Staffing : 2 RNs per shift; each patient has a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician (1 : 1)

Rotating shifts : 7 : 00a–7 : 30p and 7 : 00p–7 : 30a
What You Will Do
As a Clinical Nurse II , you will :
Plan and provide professional nursing care in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care, policies, and procedures.
Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
Use clinical judgment to tailor care based on patient needs and responses.
Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care team members.
Collaborate with other nursing staff and may serve as team leader or charge nurse as assigned.
Maintain a safe care environment and ensure proper use of equipment and resources.
Participate in professional development, maintaining required competencies.
Precept new staff and learners as assigned.
Identify opportunities for quality or operational improvement and participate in performance improvement activities.
Perform other duties incidental to the role.
What You Can Expect

Ongoing documentation of assessments, care plans, interventions, and evaluations.

What You Will Need
Graduation from an accredited BSN , ADN , or Nursing Diploma program
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience required
Note : RNs without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within five years.
Licensure & Certification
Current RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing or compact RN license
BLS certification required
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within 6 months–1 year
