Weekend Requirements : Every Other Weekend
On Call Requirements : Weekday and weekend call as scheduled
Job Description :
This position performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging including a variety of procedures (invasive and non-invasive) ranging from a variety of biopsies, routine OB / GYN, vascular venous and arterial, abdomen, small body parts to intra-cavity and color Doppler. Technologist must have strong critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and ability to problem-solve while assuming responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the technologist's care. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to deal effectively with and instruct patients who may be under physical / emotional stress; ability to comprehend and follow physicians verbal orders and follow imaging protocols. Technologist will also need to be able to work productively and effectively within a complex environment of inpatient, emergency department and outpatient circumstances by being able to multitask with changing priorities.
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for obtaining information such as patient identity, history, reviewing medical records for appropriateness of the exam or procedure and documentation accuracy. Technologist must maintain a high standard of medical ethics be self-motivated to pursue lifelong learning to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Provides excellent customer service.
