Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments upon arrival, including collecting vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
- Prioritize patient care based on severity of conditions to ensure critical cases receive immediate attention.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as ordered, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care plans accordingly.
- Perform life-saving emergency procedures such as CPR, intubation, and wound management as necessary.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding conditions, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation in compliance with policies and legal requirements.
- Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and ventilators.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to protect patients and staff.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with emergency nursing best practices.
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska required.Current BLS and PALS certifications required upon hire; ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.Certifications such as TNCC, NRP, or ENPC required within 6 months depending on specialty area.Minimum of 1 year recent experience in acute care or emergency nursing required.Prior experience in critical access or rural emergency settings preferred.Ability to work all scheduled shifts, including holiday coverage.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Ability to remain calm and provide effective care in high-pressure situations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Commitment to patient advocacy, safety, and confidentiality.Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.Physical Requirements :
