Yardman (Non-Exempt)
Department : Operations / Reports to General Manager
Loading and unloading trucks, moving product in a safe timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Order picking, wrapping products, packing, labeling shipping and receiving.
- Lifts heavy objects in excess of 60-100 pounds and climb ladders or stairs to perform duties of the position.
- Communicate with operators from other shifts
- Clean and maintain work area and follows all safety rules and practices
- Move waste from working area of yard to dumpsters
- Jockey trucks and moffetts (small forklift) around the lumber yard only.
- Operate within procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
- Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is to be sent out. No damaged raw material is to be accepted in.
- Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, training, rules and guidelines.
- Comply with best practices to achieve continuous process improvements and ensure total customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in professional, courteous, respectful, ethical manner with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
- Use good judgment and common sense
- Other duties as assigned
Job specifications of a warehouse worker
Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 100 lbs.Manual dexterity required for operating machinerySome or completion of high schoolOrganized and punctualBasic reading, writing and arithmetic skills requiredMachines / Tools / Equipment :
Forklifts, hand trucks, small power saws, banding equipment (used to wrap banding around building materials, wrap, tighten and then push down to secure banding).
Working Conditions :
Warehouse and Yard environment involving lifting above the shoulder, walking, bending, standing, and carrying of product, heavy lifting required, exposure to very hot and cold weather.
