Job Summary
The Research and Learning Librarian supports the core academic missions of Simmons University and the University Library through the development and delivery of targeted and relevant strategies, tools, services, and practices which directly and indirectly support student learning and academic excellence.

Essential Job Functions include :
Teaching and learning : Develop and deliver library instruction, maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant curriculum initiatives, demonstrate competency on broad issues of copyright and how to responsibly use resources in an academic setting.Research and Service : Provide high-quality reference and research support, create and maintain asynchronous research tools, extend services through office hours, embedded librarianship, and support of student research programs.Curriculum & Resources Development : Participate in ongoing collection review and assessment, maintain an awareness of scholarship in assigned disciplines, develop, integrate, and promote the adoption of open access principles and open educational resources.Engagement : Cultivate partnerships and collaborations with faculty, adjuncts, students, and staff, maintain an understanding of assigned academic department / program needs, promote the awareness and use of the Library's collections and services.Required Qualifications include :
Master's degree from an ALA accredited program in Library & Information ScienceOutstanding written and oral communication skillsStrong analytical and organizational skillsCommitment to excellent customer serviceDemonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a teamExperience with library and emerging technologyPreferred Qualifications include :
Two years of public services experience in an academic settingExperience developing and delivering Information Literacy sessionsFamiliarity with and experience with resources in the Library Science and Business and Management.Experience providing outstanding reference and research support both in-person and in the online environmentExperience developing, assessing, and managing print, media, and electronic collectionsExperience developing and conducting effective outreach programs for students and facultySimmons University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to continuing to develop a more diverse faculty, staff, student body, and curriculum.
