American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) night shift assignment requiring 2 years of PICU experience and expertise with EVD and trach / vent care.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within an acute care hospital setting12-bed unit with seasonal census variation (summer : ~4, winter : ~6)Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2Night shift schedule (7p-7a) with weekend shifts as neededFrequent floating to pediatric, NICU, and sitter assignments requiredCommon patient population includes trach / vent, DKA, respiratory, surgical (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs, seizures), with no cardiac casesMust titrate drips such as propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrineUses Epic EMR and Alaris equipmentNo on-call, but block scheduling and special requests are not permittedRNs are responsible for titrating multiple drips and managing patients with complex equipmentHoliday coverage is expected, with at least one holiday covered during the contractNo nurse aides or patient care techs are present on this unitCharge Nurse is present on each shift and is not assigned patientsPediatrician available in-house during the day and on-call at nightScrub color is flexible and any color is permittedUnit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shiftsCandidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility; local candidates are not acceptedFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyPermanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before being eligible\n \n Requirements\n
Active ID or compact state RN license required at time of considerationBachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) requiredCurrent BLS and PALS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience requiredExperience with EVD and trach / vent care is requiredEpic charting and Alaris equipment experience preferredAbility to read and interpret telemetry / monitor strips independentlyMust provide two professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsMust submit a copy of driver’s license and comply with all required documentation\n Benefits\n
