Position Summary
We are hiring a Project Accountant to join our finance team and play a critical role in managing the financial health of our construction projects. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with construction accounting experience who thrives on accuracy, organization, and collaboration. You'll work closely with project managers, estimators, and leadership to ensure our projects are tracked, billed, and closed with precision and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project cost accounting from contract setup through job cost cycle, progress billing, financial reporting, compliance, and project closeout
- Prepare, review, and submit AIA progress payments, ensuring full compliance with contract terms and timelines
- Manage MBE reporting and certified payroll in accordance with project requirements
- Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports, providing actionable insights on project profitability and financial health
- Partner closely with project managers, estimators, and finance leadership to ensure accurate cost reporting and transparency across all active projects
- Review subcontractor invoices, payments, and lien waivers to ensure proper documentation and timely processing
- Manage accounts payable processing with accurate coding and cost allocation; track material pricing and update cost databases
- Oversee bonds and project-specific permit / license renewals to maintain compliance and project continuity
- Support financial planning initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes
Essential Requirements
3+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1+ year in the construction industry (required)Familiarity with construction contracts, job costing, WIP reporting, and AIA progress billingsExperience with construction accounting practices and terminologyDetail-oriented with strong accuracy and thoroughnessProficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)Proficiency with Foundation accounting software is a plusStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask and work efficiently in a paperless, cloud-based environmentExceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectivelyStrong problem solver and analytical thinkerA degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferredCompensation & Benefits
