Overview
Field Service Technician – Intermediate-level position responsible for assisting in the operation of one or more compression jobs, including the operation of compressor packages and related equipment. Provides feedback for developing location operating policies and material forecasts for assigned units. May assist other field positions as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs job activities in a manner consistent with Kodiak's procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Troubleshoots basic issues and continues to build troubleshooting skills through on-the-job experience and classroom training.
- Attends and participates in all HSE meetings and adheres to HSE protocols.
- Analyzes job parts and supply inventory to effectively communicate needs with Supply Chain.
- Maintains customer relationships.
- Takes corrective actions necessary, with assistance if needed, to ensure guaranteed 98% or better mechanical availability of equipment.
- Maintains assigned units in a clean and presentable condition.
- Completes proper reports and actions required by area operating procedures / policies.
- Provides 24 / 7 coverage and participates in on-call rotations; overtime and on-call requirements may include after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience And Training
A High School Diploma or equivalent – required.Preferred : OEM, Trade School, or comparable work experience in a related field / industry.Successful completion of Kodiak's Short Service Employee (SSE) program.Some knowledge of gas processes and mechanics of motor compressors (Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar, etc.).1 year of compression process, production, and equipment-related experience and / or training.Electrical troubleshooting skills.Core competencies : teamwork, effective written and verbal communication, analytical ability, strong mechanical aptitude, self-motivation and self-control, initiative, planning and problem solving, and customer focus.Basic knowledge of compressor packages, components, and systems.Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations.Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.Valid Driver's License, with MVR within acceptable parameters of Company Policy.Physical Demands
Requires operation of heavy equipment.Standing up to 75% of the time; sitting up to 25% of the time.Climbing ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment; balance on stairs and ladders as required.Must be able to communicate with coworkers, customers, and emergency cues / alarms, in person and via phone / mobile devices.Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds; infrequent lifting of more than 50 pounds.Work in high-noise environments (>85 dBA) with ear protection.
Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.Work outdoors in extreme heat and cold.Must be able to move and maintain balance in confined spaces; may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.Must wear all required PPE (fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed boots).Prolonged keyboard and computer use as part of duties.Kodiak Gas Services is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
