Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician III plays a critical role in ensuring peak operational efficiency by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all converting and corrugating equipment at the Smurfit Kappa site in Houston, TX. This hands-on position directly reduces equipment downtime, upholds high safety standards, and promotes a positive, team-oriented work environment. The role demands strong preventative maintenance, PLC, and mechanical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and mentoring peers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on all converting and corrugating machinery to maximize uptime and equipment longevity.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate programmable controllers, A / C and D / C drives, and their control systems.
- Lead and mentor junior maintenance staff in technical skills and proper procedures.
- Utilize maintenance software for planning, scheduling, and documenting repairs and tasks.
- Assign maintenance tasks based on team members' skill levels and follow up to ensure quality completion.
- Adjust, set, and parallel machine rolls for optimal performance and product quality.
- Maintain strict compliance with safety guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Uphold housekeeping standards in maintenance and production areas.
- Accurately complete paperwork in accordance with company guidelines.
- Willingly work various shifts and extended hours as needed for business operations.
