Accounting Coordinator

Robert Half is assisting a client in the nonprofit industry to find an organized and proactive Accounting Coordinator to join their team. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while gaining valuable experience in accounting and financial operations within the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including coding, processing invoices, and ensuring timely payments
  • Assist in the preparation, reconciliation, and review of monthly financial statements to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Record financial transactions into the general ledger and maintain accounting records in compliance with nonprofit standards and GAAP.
  • Track and monitor grant funds, including compliance with donor restrictions and reporting.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and assist in tracking expenses to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to implement sound financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Handle basic payroll tasks and employee expense reimbursements.
  • Assist in internal audits and preparation for annual external audits by compiling necessary financial documentation.
  • Provide administrative support for accounting projects and initiatives, as needed.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred but not required; work experience is valued significantly in this role.
  • 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Blackbaud, or other ERP systems used in nonprofits.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with nonprofit fund accounting principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication abilities and a collaborative approach to work.
  • Experience with grant compliance and donor funding is a plus.
