Summary :

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist responsible for performing essential duties including specimen collection, receiving, and referrals in a professional healthcare setting.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure that the quality of work meets the highest standards, coordinating services for customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards, including CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and infection control guidelines, safeguarding patient health information.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the collection area and restock supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the team lead to procure necessary departmental supplies.
  • Perform a variety of specimen collection methods including venipuncture, capillary collection, urine drug screens, skin tests, and cultures.
  • Verify compliance with specimen requirements to maintain integrity during collection.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills while interacting with patients, family members, nurses, physicians, and colleagues.
  • Utilize the laboratory computer system for documenting specimen information, patient registration, order entries, and other tasks.
  • Engage in additional duties as needed, including standby / on-call shifts, inventory management, cross-training, and special projects.
  • Completes performance evaluations and competency assessments for associates in a timely manner.

Job Requirements : Education / Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
  • Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, data entry, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Experience

  • Preferred : One year of phlebotomy experience.
  • Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Tech (PBT) certification or state licensure is preferred if in Louisiana.
  • All associates are required to obtain necessary certifications for their positions within designated timeframes in accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy.
