PUBG Madison is looking for an experienced real-time Lighting Artist to join our team. As a Lighting Artist, you will be expected to make the gameplay experience legible, run smoothly at the project's target framerate, be visually distinct and tell beautiful color stories. You will work with artists to balance PBR materials and VFX luminance, designers to highlight gameplay, and engineers to maximize platform performance. You will use the Unreal 5 lumen GI workflow to create exterior global and interior lighting. You will also be responsible for time-of-day systems, weather events, post processing volumes and screen effects. This role reports to the Director of Art.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Art Director to tell striking visual stories that align with the project's creative vision, using Unreal Engine 5 lighting tools and blueprints.
- Collaborate with designers to maximize legibility and correct exposure during regular gameplay, time of day and other lighting events.
- Collaborate with engineers and tech art to optimize performance and visual consistency across target platforms.
- Participate in team feedback, playtest and other team activities.
- Foster an inclusive and respectful culture of critique
Qualifications
5-8+ years of 3D experience in a related games position.Production experience with Unreal 5 lumen or other real-time GI lighting systems.A portfolio that shows real-time, "photo-real" work in an open-world PBR environment.Experience creating and maintaining replicated blueprint systems in Unreal.Experience working with engineers to profile, optimize, debug and solve rendering issues for real-time platforms.Able to relocate / work in-person regularly from Madison studio.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with tools like Resolve for colorgrading and defining a visual style.Knowledge of photography, physical lighting and cameras.What We Offer
