Overview

The Violence Recovery Program is committed to promoting healing, equity, and justice for LGBTQIA+ survivors of violence. Provide trauma-informed services and compassionate support to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and anti-LGBTQIA+ violence, raising awareness and advocating for a world where all survivors are treated with dignity, sensitivity, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advocacy and case management services, supportive counseling in English and Spanish (if applicable) to survivors of domestic violence / partner abuse, sexual assault, anti-LGBTQ hate violence, and police misconduct.
  • Provide direct services : telephone / in-person intake, screening, assessment of new clients; supportive counseling; inform clients of rights / options; coordinate care; facilitate referrals; accompany clients to Court or police hearings.
  • Collaborate with victim services agencies and community organizations to ensure accessibility and follow-up services for survivors, organize and attend monthly meetings with law enforcement and LGBTQ groups, develop and maintain contacts and referral lists.
  • Conduct outreach about VRP services to community groups and LGBTQ communities, provide training and in-services to improve providers' response to survivors.
  • Prepare reports, statistics and documentation of services; participate in VRP team meetings, interdisciplinary department meetings; attend supervision sessions as scheduled.
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures, participate in quality assessment and improvement, maintain confidentiality, adhere to safety policies, attend required trainings and meetings, maintain professional competence, serve on committees and professional organizations as requested.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience.
  • Some advocacy and case management experience.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients, and vendors across a spectrum of diversity.
  • Willingness to contribute toward Fenway's anti-racist organization efforts and promote a culture dedicated to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, commitment to, and experience working with the LGBTQ community.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience addressing partner abuse / domestic violence, sexual violence, hate violence, and police misconduct.
  • Experience working with marginalized populations and communities of color, particularly Black and Latinx communities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Knowledge of the legal and criminal justice systems and advocacy experience.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a computer station for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to keyboard for extended periods of time.

    • Union Position

    This is a union position in a Fenway Health bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
