Histology LAB Assistant

Insight Global is looking for a 6 month contract Scientist for $14-$16 an hour for a client in New Haven, CT. This is fully on-site opportunity. This role is perfect for either someone right out of high school or college looking to gain their footing in the science industry. Below is a general overview of their primary responsibilities

Replacement of all solutions on the tissue processor and stainers with proper disposal of the hazardous waste

Verifying slides for send out to pathologist for diagnostic review.

Pick-up and delivery of specimens and glass slides between histology and other diagnostic units in pathology.

Melting of paraffin blocks

Filing of paraffin blocks

With assistance from the manager, trouble shoot any issues with the tissue processor and stainers.

Maintains the cleanliness of work area in the laboratory

Maintains inventory and orders supplies as well unpackaging of stock.

Retrieval of blocks and slides from archives

Manual cover slipping when applicable.

Responsible for the distribution of all surgical and autopsy material to appropriate personnel

Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements by following established procedures to maintain a safe laboratory environment and to meet accreditation standards.
