We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy of financial records, prepare detailed financial reports, and support compliance with accounting standards and regulations. You will play a key role in analyzing financial data and contributing to business decisions through insightful reporting.
Responsibilities :
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of financial records, including performing reconciliations and adhering to accounting standards.
 - Prepare journal entries and general ledger updates to document business transactions effectively.
 - Assist in the monthly financial close process for diverse business portfolios.
 - Analyze financial data to uncover trends and provide insights that inform strategic decisions.
 - Compile and interpret financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
 - Review and audit contracts, orders, and vouchers to verify accuracy and compliance.
 - Evaluate and approve financial transactions within established limits while ensuring proper documentation.
 - Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial reports, entries, and related documents.
 - Support tax preparation and external audit processes by providing accurate financial information.
 - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance accounting processes and achieve organizational objectives.
 - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
 - At least 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience or equivalent education and training.
 - Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
 - Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
 - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
 - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
 - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
 - Experience in journal entries, general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
