Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Duration : 8 weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : 2 years of prior telemetry experience required (must have 2 years experience in a large, urban hospital) License : Must have an active nursing license Certifications : BLS required Must-Have : - Experience managing titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and complex wound care - EPIC charting experience - Must be 100% nicotine free Description : This role involves providing care in a 40-bed medical-surgical unit. The unit cares for patients ages 18 and older with acute and / or chronic illnesses. Patients may have conditions such as sepsis, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, cardiac disease, and COVID-19. The nursing staff will be responsible for managing medications, patient assessments, and care plans. Everyone in the care team works together towards a common goal of providing excellent patient care. Team members include bedside nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and virtual nurses. Virtual nurses assist with administrative tasks that do not require physical presence. Team-based care promotes teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Staff members are expected to float within their scope to meet facility needs. The patient-to-nurse ratio during days is 1 : 8 and during nights it is 1 : 9. Weekends require working four shifts out of eight possible within a four-week period.
