Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Summer 2026 Recruitment Timeline :

November 10 - December 5 : Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume)

Mid November - Late December : First round video interviews

Mid - Late January : Second round interviews

Late January - February : Selected candidates receive offers

Summer 2026 Internship Program :

Time Commitment : 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.

Format : Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Washington, DC.

NBCUniversal's Corporate groups are uniquely positioned at the core of our organization. Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to :

• Corporate Legal - Government Affairs (JD-level) : NBCUniversal's Government Affairs team focuses on regulatory, legislative, and public policy matters related to broadcasting / media / film / streaming issues, including broadcast licensing and media regulations, programming and advertising standards, accessibility, privacy, intellectual property, and content piracy. The Legal Government Affairs intern will support responsibilities including : preparing briefing memos, talking points, comment summaries, and other written materials; attending virtual and in-person hearings, conferences, and events; partnering with team members to determine the impact of federal actions on the organization; developing presentations and other written materials on findings; acting as an internal consultant to the government affairs team.

Basic Requirements :

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program. Spring 2026 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2026 internship program.

Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).

Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.

Must be available to work 40 hours per week from June 1 - August 7, 2026.

Must be willing to work in Washington, DC.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Desired Characteristics :

Must be a current J.D. candidate in good standing.

Current class standing of 2L or above preferred.

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Coursework or experience in administrative and copyright law a plus.

Interest in the broadcast, digital media, and telecommunications industries.

The hourly rate for JD student interns is $25.00.
