Description :

The Surgical Technician-NCA assists other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care during the intraoperative period.

The major focus for this position is on the preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment.

This role involves assisting the surgeon during the surgical procedure.

The individual administers care and use of equipment applications based on the age and needs of the patient population served.

This includes neonate through geriatric patients.

The Surgical Technician must be knowledgeable of specific procedures or specialties.

They should effectively prioritize, plan, and problem-solve due to the changing nature of the work situation during surgical procedures.

The individual must have the ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations.

Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique is essential.

This knowledge must be applied in all patient and family interactions.

The Surgical Technician displays aseptic technique in the performance of surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes.

They demonstrate responsibility for the care, preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation.

Consistent performance of sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure is required.

Knowledge and adherence to professional standards of practice are essential for this role.
