Description :

Unit does not require an operating room license at the time of submittal.

The facility is willing to request a 90-Day Emergency License.

Registered nurses will be expected to rotate between pre-operative and post-anesthesia care unit functions.

Nurses will be involved in the recovery phase.

The unit has a total of 6 operating rooms and 4 endoscopy suites.

Expected number of cases per day varies from 5 to 10 in the pre-operative area and 15 to 30 in the recovery area.

Nurses should have experience in both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.

Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1 : 2 in the pre-operative area, 1 : 1 or 1 : 3 in the post-anesthesia care unit, and 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 in recovery.

Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications are required, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support is preferred.

Common cases include general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, sports medicine, hand surgery, podiatry, ophthalmology, ear, nose, and throat, as well as endoscopy.

Familiarity with Meditech EMR is essential.

Charting may involve a mix of Meditech and paper documentation.

A manager oversees the entire unit, with charge nurses present for each area.

Medical assistants provide support with patient admissions and discharges.

Registered nurses should be able to read and interpret heart rhythms and respond appropriately to life-threatening situations.

Scheduling consists of 5 shifts of 8 hours each, with varied start times.

The schedule is managed by a designated scheduler, and flexibility with availability is appreciated.

There are no weeknight, weekend, or holiday call requirements.

Staffing does not require on-call response time.

Floating between different units within the facility is expected.

Scrubs will be provided for employees.

General orientation and a buddy system will help ensure comfort in the role.

Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled up to 4 times during a 13-week assignment.

Charting system used is Meditech.

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for this position.

Submission of valid nursing license is required.

The trauma level of the care setting is acute.

Shift notes indicate days of work will consist of five 8-hour shifts.
