Description :

Adult and pediatric burn trauma surgical ICU RN position.

Primary RN care model utilized.

Nursing care ratios are 1 : 2 for critical care patients.

1 : 1 nursing care support provided for burn trauma code 1 admissions and high acuity post-operative patients.

Responsibilities include invasive hemodynamic monitoring at least every hour.

IV drip titration required.

Nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation following Parkland formula expected.

Ventilator management skills are necessary.

Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration (CVVH) knowledge required.

Pulse and flap Doppler checks every hour are essential.

Initial debridement and dressing changes required.

Conscious sedation experience is needed.

Surgical recovery skills are necessary.

Knowledge of epidural pumps is required.

Unit is focused on caring for both adult and pediatric burn trauma patients.

Injuries may include flame, scald, electrical, chemical burns, inhalation injuries, necrotic ischemia, and necrotizing fasciitis.

Responsibilities cover the entire continuum of care.
