Responsibilities
Duties :
- Knowledgeable of special requirements when imaging infants and children, including location of pediatric immobilizers, weight based administration of radiopharmaceuticals, and any other adjustments in technique, positioning or procedure necessary to obtain a quality exam.
- The technologist must keep parents / legal guardians informed at all times on the condition of minors and alleviate any fears.
- Produces high quality diagnostic medical images for interpretation and to Radiologist specification.
- Ability to prepare radio-pharmaceutical aseptically and inject such radio-pharmaceutical as necessary for the requested study.
- Responsible for thoroughly explaining all procedures to each patient before examination. Employs all necessary patient care techniques to ensure patient safety and well being.
- Schedules patients for nuclear medicine studies. Gives preparation instructions. Correlates with Cardiologists as required.

Purpose & Scope :
Performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures, administering radio-pharmaceutical for the purpose of detecting pathology, evaluating function, or as a means of therapy.
MEC approval : 7 / 11 / 2016
Education :
An associate degree in radiological procedure is preferred.
Experience :
One year of experience in nuclear medicine is preferred.
Certification / Licensure :
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Nuclear) or NMTCB required.
BLS certification required.
