Arborist
Job Summary : The Arborist oversees the care, maintenance, and management of trees, shrubs, and other woody plants to ensure their health, safety, and aesthetic value. This role performs skilled tree work, including pruning, trimming, removal, and planting while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
Minimum Education : Associate's degree in related field. Licensure, Registration and / or Certification : International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist, preferred.
Work Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience in identifying tree species, pests, and diseases. Ground maintenance experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Working knowledge of landscape design principles and maintenance standards. Working knowledge of arboricultural practices for promoting tree vitality and longevity. Ability to work at elevated heights for extended periods in varying weather conditions. Ability to manage time efficiently to complete multiple assignments with competing deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing work conditions, priorities, and schedules.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Conducts site inspections to identify tree species, detect pests, and ensure their health by evaluating soil and site conditions. Maintains accurate records of work performed, including equipment usage, treatments applied, and project notes. Works outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions at elevated heights, using ladders, climbing gear, and bucket trucks. Participates in ongoing training to stay current with arboriculture techniques, safety practices, and industry developments. Conducts pre-job hazard assessments and implements appropriate safety controls before beginning work. Conducts root zone management practices such as mulching, aeration, and root pruning to promote healthy tree growth. Assists in the development of tree management plans, including species selection, planting schedules, and maintenance timelines.
Decision Making : Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Working Relationships : Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and / or customers. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Special Job Dimensions : Performs job duties from elevated positions, including ladders, scaffolding, or bucket trucks, in compliance with safety standards and fall protection requirements. Operates small machinery.
