Job Summary :
TheNurseEducator / Infection Control Coordinatoris a vital clinical leader responsible for staff development and infection prevention efforts within both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation units. This dual-role position ensures high-quality, person-centered care by enhancing staff competencies, promoting evidence-based practices, and implementing a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program. The role supports regulatory compliance, staffeducation, and continuous quality improvement within a dynamic skilled nursing facility.
Primary Responsibilities :
Education & Staff Development
- Design, implement, and evaluate orientation programs, in-serviceeducation, and ongoing training for nursing and direct care staff.
- Assess staff competencies and identify learning needs; develop individualized learning plans as appropriate.
- Provideeducation on clinical best practices, regulatory updates, facility policies, and emerging healthcare trends.
- Maintain up-to-date records of staff training, certifications, and competency validations.
- Promote professional growth and interdisciplinary learning across both long-term and short-term care teams.
Infection Prevention & Control
Develop, coordinate, and monitor the facilitys Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program in compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state / local public health guidelines.Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs); analyze data and trends to guide quality improvement.Lead outbreak investigations and direct timely implementation of containment measures, including isolation protocols and PPE usage.Educate staff, residents, and families on infection prevention strategies and proper hygiene practices.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate infection control standards into daily clinical operations.Qualifications :
Current NYS Registered Nurse license.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Possesses current certification in Infection Control (CIC) or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.Minimum of 23 years of clinical experience in long-term care, short-term rehab, or acute / post-acute care settings.Previous experience in staffeducation, infection control, or nursing leadership strongly preferred.Knowledge of federal and state regulations including relevant CMS F-tags (e.g., F880, F881, F726).Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR), learning management systems, and infection reporting tools such as NHSN.BLS Certification (required) / ACLS Certification (preferred).Salary Range :
$100,000-$110,000 per a year ($5,000 Sign-On Bonus)
