Job Summary

The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive care to antepartum, laboring, and postpartum patients, following AWHONN staffing standards. This role requires flexibility to float across St. Luke’s Treasure Valley sites (Meridian, Nampa, Boise) and deliver care in L&D, Postpartum, or Antepartum units as needed. The RN will attend deliveries, manage mother-baby care, circulate C-sections, and provide postpartum couplet care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients from 32-week gestation and greater, including TOLACs, HTN on magnesium, gestational diabetes, and antepartum patients
  • Attend deliveries and provide up to 1 hour of newborn care
  • Circulate C-section procedures and provide postpartum couplet care
  • Titrate drips including Pitocin, magnesium, and insulin per protocol
  • Collaborate with OB hospitalists, Neonatal NPs, anesthesia, and RT staff as needed
  • Float across LDRP units at different sites and transport patients to CT, imaging, or higher level of care if required
  • Use Centricity EFM system to monitor patients
  • Follow hospital dress code and infection control standards (no acrylic / gel nails)
  • Complete unit-specific orientation including C-section, labor, and postpartum procedures

    • Requirements

    Experience

  • Minimum 1 year L&D experience accepted
  • Must have mother-baby experience (preferred 1 year)
  • Experience attending deliveries, postpartum couplet care, triage, and circulating C-section
  • Magnesium management experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Comfortable floating between sites and multiple skill sets

    • Licenses & Certifications

  • NPR (Neonatal / Pediatric Resuscitation)
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • STABLE

    • Education

  • Current RN license in good standing

    • Schedule & Orientation

  • Shifts : 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM (Resource / Charge 6 : 45 AM – 6 : 45 PM & 6 : 45 PM – 6 : 45 AM)
  • Orientation : 4 shifts (includes C-section, labor, and postpartum)
  • Holidays / Weekends : Based on unit needs, no guaranteed requirements for travelers
  • Call / Standby : Not required
