Overview
Job Opportunity : There is one position available and the position will be filled at one of four job grades : Environmental Planner I (job grade 7), Environmental Planner II (job grade 8), Environmental Planner III (job grade 9), or Senior Environmental Planner (job grade 10). This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.
Salary
- Senior Environmental Planner — Hiring Salary Range : $106,000–$135,000
- Environmental Planner III — Hiring Salary Range : $96,000–$121,000
- Environmental Planner II — Hiring Salary Range : $86,000–$108,000
- Environmental Planner I — Hiring Salary Range : $77,000–$96,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and / or skill level.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with waste, water, TSCA, and DOT Hazardous Materials environmental laws by maintaining in-place compliance programs, obtaining necessary permits and approvals, preparing applications, and complying with regulatory recordkeeping and reporting requirements.Monitor and interpret newly promulgated and emerging regulations under RCRA, TSCA, SDWA, UIC, FIFRA, HMTA and other federal environmental statutes; provide guidance as applicable.Develop and provide environmental training for employees regarding relevant environmental compliance issues.Request proposals for studies and services from outside consultants; assist with preparation of technical provisions and evaluation of bidders.Interface with CDPHE, NMED, EPA and other environmental regulatory agencies as necessary.Assist in administration of schedules and budget preparation and review for environmental projects, and the annual functional area budget.Assist in conducting self-evaluations of Tri-State facilities and its subsidiaries.File or provide for filing of environmental reports required by government agencies.Serve as a member of Tri-State's spill response team.Prepare reports and special projects, as requested.Assist in the development and updating, as necessary, plans for Tri-State facilities and its subsidiaries to comply with environmental laws.Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable performance of essential functions and responsibilities as Tri-State is an electric utility with continuous service obligations to its customers.Work overtime as needed to ensure continuous, reliable electric service to customers.Demonstrate and embody Tri-State's core value of Safety in all work actions and products.Qualifications
Education and Training
Bachelor's degree in physical or biological sciences or related area, or equivalent combination of education and / or experience.Knowledge, Skills, And Ability
Working knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, SDWA, UIC, FIFRA, HMTA and other federal environmental statutes.Physical ability to make field inspections.Effective verbal and written communication, including with regulatory agencies.Working knowledge of PC and standard business software (Word, spreadsheets, databases).Ability to maintain effective working relationships.Other
Willingness to travel up to 30 percent of the time; must possess a valid driver's license.Desired Job Qualifications
