Nights, 8 and 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays.

Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit and provide care to a diverse patient population including :
Post-operative craniotomy patients.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgery patients.Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients involved in our Comprehensive Stroke Program .High volumes of cervical and spinal surgery patients along with medical overflow cases.Our unit is part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , offering exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and advanced care.

Assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness, including involving patients and families in care planning.Recognize significant changes in patient conditions and alter care plans as necessary.Implement strategies to promote patient safety and meet educational needs of patients and families.Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach and apply evidence-based practices.Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes while actively participating in shared governance initiatives.Demonstrate effective communication, conflict resolution, and assume a leadership role in care teams.Promote patient safety by identifying risks and intervening to prevent harm.Participate in quality improvement initiatives contributing to department and patient care functions.Contribute to professional development and mentorship, attending required meetings and completing competencies.Provide age-appropriate care with the knowledge of growth and development principles.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license in the practicing state.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and reach frequently throughout the workday.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. overhead, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Push / pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform sliding transfers of 150 lbs. with assistance.May be exposed to chemical and hazardous substances; protective equipment required.Must be able to use foot pedals, and demonstrate adequate speech, vision, hearing, and touch for necessary functions.This job description outlines the general nature and level of work expected.
