The City of Santa Maria is seeking a Police Officer to join their hard working and innovative team. This full-time position offers a monthly salary ranging from $7,705.36 to $9,365.92 and is located in Santa Maria, CA. The Police Officer role provides safety, security, trust, and comfort to Santa Maria residents by enforcing laws and promoting safety. This position requires verification of graduation from a valid CA POST Basic Academy with the application.

The duties of a Police Officer include performing law enforcement and crime prevention work, controlling traffic flow and enforcing state and local traffic laws, conducting security patrols, first aid, detection, investigations, and arrests, and responding to emergency calls. The Police Officer must also uphold the values of the organization and demonstrate strong customer service orientation.

Minimum qualifications for the Police Officer position include a high school diploma or G.E.D., graduation from a CA P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate Law Enforcement Academy, and current technical / professional knowledge of complex principles, methods, standards, and techniques associated with the scope of work of a recognized profession. Conditions of employment include possession of a valid and appropriate driver license, completion of a background investigation, and meeting the physical requirements of the job.

The selection process for this position includes an online application and supplemental questions, electronic attachment of a current / valid California POST Basic Academy Certificate or Certificate of Completion of the California POST Basic Course Waiver Process, and an oral interview.
