Interim General Counsel

We are partnered with a client in the bay area who is looking for an Interim General Counsel with potential to convert to a permanent position! They need someone ASAP for 3-6 months, but if you are only looking for permanent roles at this time and have this experience, please reach out anyway as they are ultimately looking for a replacement. This role is time‑sensitive as the current GC is stepping down soon.

Key Qualifications

California‑admitted attorney

Prior GC experience or senior‑level legal at a large company

Background in highly regulated industries : industrial manufacturing, waste / recycling, oil & gas, refineries, environmental, or agriculture

In‑office culture, bay area (this is not a remote role but may offer some flexibility)

Focus Areas

Commercial transaction documents : government / municipal and private customers, real estate access, purchase and lease, M&A, subcontractor and vendor, consulting, non‑disclosure, LOIs, CBAs, MOUs, services, vendor / procurement, design‑build, engineering and construction

Strategic transactions and initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments and divestitures, including coordinating HSR and CFIUS filings

Insurance (auto accidents, workers comp)

This person will be overseeing one legal team member as well as internal audit and the position reports directly into the CEO. The focus areas mentioned are not a nice‑to‑have; the firm needs someone who has done these things before.
