Sample Prep Technician

Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Sample Prep Technician, where you will assist with various tasks such as labeling containers, washing glassware, and transporting samples. This role requires high attention to detail, and you'll be on your feet throughout the day. You will primarily work in a food lab, performing repetitive duties such as reducing samples, labeling, and storing them.
Responsibilities
Assist prep staff with labeling containers and washing glassware.
Transport samples from preparation areas to designated locations.
Reduce samples to powder or liquid form using liquid nitrogen for testing.
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to company regulations.
Stand for the majority of the day and occasionally use a 5-pound hammer for sample grinding.
Be flexible to work an average of 5 hours of overtime per week based on workload.
Rotate into vessel washing and other specialty areas as needed.
Perform data entry tasks such as taking pictures and uploading them into computer files a few times a month.
Wash vessels once a week.
Essential Skills
Associate's degree in Biotechnology with 2 years of industry lab experience or High School diploma with 3-4+ years of experience in a repetitive work environment.
Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Experience working under GLP regulations.
Comfortable working independently.
Reliability verified through references.
1+ years of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs.

Work Environment
You will work in a vibrant prep lab where the environment is loud due to the pounding of hammers. This is a fast-paced setting, akin to production work, requiring adherence to client timeframes. There are promotional opportunities as the sample prep lab is expanding, and the role offers a chance to move into more advanced positions. The team consists of 12-15 employees across 1st and 2nd shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.17 - $20.17 / hr.
