WHAT THIS ROLE WILL BE DOING :
The Industrial Engineer will drive continuous improvement at Wausau Supply Company through the use and application of Lean mfg. methodologies to study and enhance manufacturing operations and productivity through the analysis of routings, bill of materials, processes, material flow, plant layout, methods, and product design with a focus on cost reduction and preventing waste and inefficiency in production processes. This position combines a strong foundation in manufacturing systems and processes, supply chain / quality / project, and operations management to develop and improve manufacturing processes for WSC.
Duties to include (not limited to) :
Develop a comprehensive understanding of ERP functionality within the Planning and Scheduling team.Design, develop, and maintain all manufacturing BOM's and Routings for all manufactured products. Utilize if-then logic to establish master and alternative / configurable BOM's and Routings.Design, develop, and maintain standard work documentation for manufacturing processes and procedures.Conduct time studies to develop appropriate standards for new and existing products and processes and identify process improvement opportunities.Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel to improve workflow and troubleshoot problem areas.Develop and track capacity projections for all work centers and manufacturing plants.Conduct and prepare labor and material cost estimates as required.Participate in product innovation efforts to ensure cost-effective designs.Supports manufacturing decision-making with information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Communicates manufacturing engineering information, as needed, both horizontally and vertically across the organization.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.A WSC Industrial Engineer will possess and / or demonstrate the ability to :
Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.Hands-on work with spreadsheets and Process Maps are required in this role.Creatively use modern technology in the manufacturing process.Familiarity with today's manufacturing best practice processes and concepts.Effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet expected goals on time, with limited direction.Good managerial skills and the ability to make critical decisions and use cost-effective methods in the manufacturing process.Enthusiasm and have a positive approach to problem-solving.Education / Experience :
BS degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or closely related discipline.Minitab, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access proficiency required.ASQ certification Six Sigma Green Belt desirable but not required.Experience in manufacturing and distributing building products a strong plus.Working Demands / Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift to 50 pounds.Reports to : Engineering Manager-Waudena
