Position Summary : Performs basic mechanical assembly functions on production type hardware according to company workmanship standards and military or client specifications. Uses hand or power tools to trim, shim, cut, and make other adjustments to fit components together and align them properly. May assist in instructing and training lower-level assemblers. Reads and interprets assembly drawings to work orders using work instructions. May set up and operate automated assembly equipment. At the most senior level may serve as a team leader providing training to new staff and evaluating the performance and finished work of assigned staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Determine Detail / Hardware locations per blueprints and mylars

Set-up and operate Drill Press, Pneumatic drills, “C” squeezes, Hand Squeezes, Rivet Pullers.

  • Drill holes in structure and subassemblies, and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips to secure installation or to fasten subassemblies per blueprint and customer specifications.

Install units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.

Bolt, screw, or rivet accessories to fasten, support, or hang components and subassemblies.

Locate and mark reference points and holes for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.

Mask Components with paint, plastic plugs and tape prior to surface coating.

Complete all required training and any additional training required by supervisor.

Complete quality documentation

  • Verify part and hardware count to shop router
  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications :

    Experience and Education :

    1-2 years of relevant experience

    High school degree or equivalent

    Technical Skills :

    Excellent attention to detail

    Strong hand-eye coordination

    Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint reading, specification, change, design).

    Working knowledge of aircraft manufacturing, instructions and blueprints

    Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements

    Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.

    Mastery of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions)

    Strong teamwork and communication skills to get along with co-workers and be a team player

    Understand and obey safety requirements

    Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris

    Physical Requirements :

    Must be able to lift and / or move up to 50lbs

    Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

    Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time

    Capable of standing for long periods

    Supervisory Responsibilities : None.
