As a Psychiatry Physician with the Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) , you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, focusing on evidence-based therapeutic interventions for mental health and substance use disorders.

About Us

The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) at NYC Health + Hospitals is dedicated to delivering high-quality medical and mental health care to those incarcerated. With approximately 25% of new admissions requiring mental health services, we strive to offer safe, holistic, and innovative treatment modalities. Our services include specialty housing units, a 24-hour psychiatric service, creative arts programming, and integrated re-entry services.

Your Responsibilities

In this full-time role, you will :

• Provide psychiatric care, including admission evaluations, follow-ups, and urgent consultations.
• Consult with non-prescribing mental health and medical staff on diagnosis and treatment plans.
• Participate in daily team meetings and contribute to individual treatment plans.
• Evaluate patients for higher levels of care and maintain continuity during hospitalizations.
• Document all activities in the electronic medical record clearly and promptly.
• Supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants as needed.
• Engage in weekly clinical supervision with psychiatric leadership.
• Assist with the supervision of psychiatric volunteers, providing feedback and evaluation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

This position is located on Rikers Island with a schedule of Monday-Friday : 4 PM - 12 AM .
