Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will be primarily responsible for managerial oversight of the staff and activities within the general ledger account team. Under direct supervision of the Accounting Director, the Accounting Manager supervises accounting specialists and senior accountants.
Essential duties and responsibilities include :
- Manage the preparation of monthly journal entries, balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations, as assigned.
- Run various monthly reports used to reconcile or analyze general ledger account balances.
- Review the preparation of account analyses for internal and external reporting purposes.
- Review the preparation of the monthly financial statements and provide detailed explanations of account fluctuations.
- Communicate with other cross functional teams including IT, Shared Services A / R and A / P, FP&A, Procurement, Customer Service, Operations, Treasury and Consolidations.
- Provide support to department heads in understanding actual versus budget departmental spend variances.
- Manage the monthly financial close process for the team. Ensure that sub-ledgers are updated to general ledger accurately, completely and in a timely manner. Ensure that all required journal entries are prepared and posted to the general ledger.
- Manage a team of up to 3-5 accountants. Ensure that each accountant is provided the required training and support to effectively perform their assigned tasks.
- Ensure that procedures and policies are in place to effectively reconcile all accounts on a timely basis and to comply with all stated requirements of SOX 404.
- Other tasks and special projects, as assigned.
Desired minimum qualifications include :
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.Certifications : None required, CPA a plus.Experience : 8+ years of corporate and / or public accounting experience, with at least 2 of those years managing a team and reviewing their work.Strong computer skills; Experience with ORACLE ERP systems a plus.Detail oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems.Ability to analyze and reconcile financial data.Knowledge of personal computer databases and spreadsheets.Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.Effective organizational skills.Ability to work well as part of a high performing team, as needed.This role is hybrid, based out of Princeton, NJ, with office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote work is available on Mondays and Fridays. Salary Pay Range : $109,250.00 - $149,500.00 USD.
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for bonus, commission, equity or other variable compensation.
