Job description

Allegheny Health Network’s (AHN)  Women’s Institute is recruiting a full-time Laborist  to join our team at AHN Wexford Hospital located in  Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania .

Job Duties :

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and continuing medical education activities.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and teach medical students and residents, as needed.
  • Assist with resident education and training.

Job Highlights :

  • Provide comprehensive care to obstetrical and gynecological patients in the hospital setting.
  • Manage labor and delivery, including vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
  • Evaluate and manage obstetrical emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, and eclampsia.
  • Evaluate and manage gynecological emergencies such as ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, and ovarian torsion.
  • Provide consultation services to other medical specialties within the hospital.
  • Perform gynecological surgeries, as needed, based on training and experience.
  • Provide postpartum care and education to new mothers.
  • Collaborate with nurses, midwives, and other members of the healthcare team to provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians and other outside providers.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including documentation of patient history, physical examination, diagnosis, treatment plan, and progress notes.
  • Provide 24 / 7 in-house coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.

    • Job Qualifications :

  • Completion of ACGME approved Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
  • Board Eligible / Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
