Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Deputy Appraiser and / or County Appraiser, the Personal Property Appraiser II performs technical work within the personal property venue. This employee is required to gather data, classify, and value all types of personal property and / or assists all clerical personnel in meeting required deadlines. The employee in this position has supervisory responsibilities to include but are not limited to reviewing the performances of the clerical / personal property staff and to ensure that adequate quality controls are in place. This position coordinates all activities of the clerical / personal property staff to ensure that all functions of the department are accomplished in accordance with Property Valuation Division (PVD) guidelines and State Statutes.

Position Requirements :
Experience :
Minimum three years' experience in ad valorem taxation of personal property, and two successful cycles of the annual valuation and certification of the personal property tax roll.
Education :
High school diploma or GED equivalent; two-year technical degree or equivalent education and experience in related field required. Successful completion of PVD sponsored classes : Personal Property Valuation and Assessment, Personal Property Motor Vehicle, and Introductory and Advanced Oil and Gas.
Skills :
Knowledge and understanding of the property assessment process and map interpretation; strong analytical, documentation, organizational and mathematical skills; ability to deal tactfully with others and to communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in using computer software applications includes word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to efficiently operate adding machines, computers, photocopiers and related office machines.
Accountability :
This employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of departmental equipment. Employees may participate in the annual departmental budget process. Decision making exists in this position.
Supervision :
This position is responsible for the supervision of staff involved in the processing or valuation of personal property and clerical functions. Limited direct supervision provided relating to daily job functions and job-related decisions are reviewed by the department head as necessary.
Working Conditions :
The functions of this position are generally conducted in an office setting. On occasion, adverse weather conditions may be a factor if conducting inspections and / or audits in the field. Stressful conditions may occur when dealing with citizens. Work hours are generally from 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm.
