Job description

Eckerd College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Director of Counseling, Health and Advocacy Services to join our Student Success team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community.

The Director will provide the overall administrative and clinical responsibility for student counseling services and mental health outreach programs. The Director oversees clinical services at the College, including student psychotherapy and the supervision of interns. This position collaborates with other departments in crisis intervention, outreach programming, and presentations and acts as the liaison between the Health Services department and Eckerd College, ensuring contractual compliance. Additionally, this role provides oversight to staff employed under Advocacy Services.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership for Eckerd College Counseling Services to ensure the implementation of clinical counseling services that adhere to the highest professional standards and best practices for college counseling services including but not limited to prevention, consultation, treatment, referral, and outreach programming .

Ensure the delivery of individual and group clinical supervision for master's-level interns and, when appropriate, for all full- and part-time clinical staff.

Provide and coordinate after-hours emergency protocols and crisis intervention for students in acute emotional distress.

Provide clinical counseling services directly to students as needed.

Promote and provide consultation and training to Student Success professional staff, resident advisors, faculty, and administrators on issues related to student academic adjustment, psychological wellness, and crisis management.

Develop and maintain a dynamic network of outreach services and programming in collaboration with faculty and Student Success staff, partnering in particular with Student Outreach and Support, Health Services, and Advocacy Services, to enhance students' psychological development and adjustment to college.

Maintain interdisciplinary relationships with health care staff to design and implement wellness outreach programs.

Establish and maintain effective systems to assess, monitor, and update the quality of counseling services in response to the psychological needs of the campus environment.

Manage budgets and Counseling Services resources to ensure appropriate f i scal controls that comply with Eckerd College policies and divisional guidelines.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in an appropriate field; credentials as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

5+ years of experience working with young adults in a college counseling center, community mental health agency, or comparable setting.

2+ years of experience in clinical supervision and certification by the State of Florida as a clinical supervisor when applicable.
